  1. Geordie’s mom

After many years of birding, my husband and I decided we would join the cool kids and buy a scope. We decided on the Zeiss because of the quality and reviews. This is a solidly built scope, and we were able to clearly see things a few MILES away! We were actually able to spot a resident Coopers hawk in our yard and the clarity was superb. This is a great investment if you are checking out the wildlife in your area.

  2. Alaskarifleman

Likes…clarity at all magnification levels. The lens came half detached which allowed me to discover that it comes off, when I turned it in the wrong direction, so a nice camera will attach to it. As you can see from the photo it was recently purchased from a shop in Colorado and then sent directly to me. Got it in the mail today. Tough rubber outer coating for Alaska’s extreme weather swings. Feels stronger than my other Vortex spotter. It has a built in telescoping sun shade.Total surprise! I was thinking that my, not as new, Diamondback spotting scope returned from the Vortex shop. It separated in the middle. It’s only been a few weeks. I’m sure they’re putting it back together.Dislikes…The box has been delved through, a lot. The scope has been in and out of it many times. No owners manual included but a user card was in the box. What you see in the pic is all that the user card says in English. A fingerprint on the objective lens that I dealt with fast. This spotter comes ready to hit the trails. I will update this review in the spring after putting the scope through an Alaskan winter of hunting, stargazing and very cold temperatures.

It is all you would expect from a Zeiss lens. Of course you need a good solid tripod for this scope, but the light gathering and quality of image is superb. I took 2 pictures through the eyepiece with my phone camera. Results speak for themselves. This is the 1st and 3rd flatiron in Boulder Colorado taken from about 6 miles away.
