I will say, this is the best night vision to me only because I’ve never owned night vision. The goggles are rugged, durable, and easy to use. I’d highly recommend this to anyone who is just getting into tacticool gear but isn’t willing to spend thousands of dollars to see at night. However that’s not to say it’s without its problems, here is a list of some pros and cons:Pros: -Cheap, cheap is good-It’s durable and sturdy (the NOD itself)-It’s simple for beginners-Pretty long battery life when off (mine has held a full charge for about a week)Cons: -The headband mount it comes with is quite bad and uncomfortable to wear, and the plastic mounting plate is of questionable quality-the rubber eye piece can be hard to deal with if you have the wrong head or helmet shape-the screen glows pretty bright and the two IR illuminators glow red, making you pretty visible-the IR illuminators have a pretty limited rangeThat was the end of my review, what’s next is the modifications I made in order to make the device usable:I don’t have the money for a ballistic helmet, nor do I want to downgrade protection to get a bump helmet. That is why I put the device on my M1 Steel Pot helmet. I simply extended the head-strap to fit the M1 (it was just barely too small) and secured it on with camo duct tape. It mounted sturdy enough, however the rubber eye piece would fold down and block my vision whenever I tried to move the device over my eyes. The rubber also blocked my peripheral vision, so I was tripping like the idiot I am. The seller was nice enough to tell me just to unscrew the 6 screws holding the goggles together and take the rubber out. I removed secured the glass plate that rests in the rubber guard back to the goggles with gorilla tape and a layer of more camo duct tape over it. Now the only downside to this modification is that, the durability may go down a bit when you replace components with tape, and the light from the screen is more visible in the night, and your face/eyes are pretty lit up. I don’t see the eyes lit up as a totally bad thing, since the IR illuminator already gave off a visible red light. From this modification, you get your peripheral vision back, and can mount it on pretty much any helmet with enough tape!

Really loving this little nightvision rig! Now I know there are lots of mixed reviews about the Nightfox Swift, but for the price tag, you really can’t beat it. I’m an avid hunter, I have used other nightvision scopes before, mainly gen1, I have a firefield nvrs, but sadly with it you can only see when you’re looking through the scope and it’s impossible to move through the woods while looking through it. That is why I thought I’d give the Nightfox Swift a try, they are my first ever set of goggles. I’ve had trouble with hogs tearing up my place for a while, and never could tell when or where they’d come through until the damage was done, so instead of sitting and waiting in one spot where they may never come, now I can go to them when I hear them in the distance. This device gives me the confidence to walk through the big back yard around the ponds I have, as well as through the woods around the property and it works well enough for the ranges I’m working with. Field of view is only 10 degrees, so it is like tunnel vision, but with any type of laser on your gun, whether it be red, green, or IR you can see it really well and you’re able to maintain situational awareness AND know where you’re going to hit. It’s a bit like a video game when you have the goggles on, but for getting rid of pesky varmints of all types, it’s no joke. The head strap takes some adjusting but I got mine to where I like it, if you move your head up and down too quickly or run ( which I don’t recommend ) the weight of the device will cause it to bob up and down but I’ve never had it come off. The 7 IR levels and screen brightness settings are quick and easy to fine tune it to your liking, charge time isn’t too bad and it runs a good long while, I mean I’m seldom out for more than an hour, and the runtime is 3 hours so it works perfect for me. To sum it all up, for the money you’re getting an entry level nightvision device, it’s fairly clear and easy to make out what you’re looking at, it’ll meet some small needs and of course they’re not perfect, but for what they do at their price I don’t think there is a brand out there that can deliver what these do and I’m very happy with my purchase

Let’s start off by getting this over with first. These ARE night vision goggles and no they are NOT high end.Okay, with that over with let’s break this down. Some people don’t realize that there are many different types of NVG’s out there. Unlike the classic image intensifier style these are digital night vision. The difference? Vacuum tubes are swapped for a low Lux camera. This makes it cheaper and easier to produce. Please understand that if you want the “classic” goggles expect to pay in the thousands vs the $200 I snagged these for.A few things on function, these are great for the price point. Only thing I wish was improved on would be a wider angle for the lenses. View is very limited with these and makes it slightly difficult to move in close quarters. Nevertheless these are still very comfortable to wear and work very well. No you are not going to see great detail at extreme distance but are still a great device. Also note that with this price point the two IR lights are slightly in the visible spectrum. So in operation you will see two glowing red eyes piercing the dark abyss. This may be a deal breaker for some, but I’m okay with striking fear into the hearts of my enemies as a shadowy demon emerges from the dark.In all I am extremely happy with this buy, and despite some minor flaws these will be a great addition to my airsoft gear, and great for general entertainment on a long work night.
