FLIR is the best in the business for *commercial and military* thermal cameras. This is not one of those. This consumer camera is absolute trash by comparison to other US manufacturers and here’s why:-The refresh rate of 8 Hz makes it unusable for my purposes, and frankly, unusable as handheld monocular.-Humans/deer sized objects are blobs/smears at 50 yds, the rated 100 yd range is a joke. From a tripod, maybe 75 yds but it doesnt have a tripod mount -_–Ita straight up useless in bright sunlight outside. Solar reflection blows out and confuses the image almost ever time, I’m not sure if this is bad processing, but it also doesn’t look like this model has a second photosensor so I don’t even think it tries…-Oldschool wire-only interface. No live view via wifi on your phone or computer, you’ll need to buy some kind of Component to USB cable I’m told. You’ll also need to plug it in to retrieve videos, otherwise they can only be watched through the viewer.Bottom line:For LESS MONEY you can get the AGM Asp Micro 160, which has the same sensor resolution (160×120) but better refresh rate (20 Hz vs. 8 Hz).For THE SAME MONEY you can get the AGM Taipan TM-10 256, which has a bigger sensor (256 x 192) and a better refresh rate (20 Hz vs 8 Hz).FLIR, you guys are better than this.

The Flir tkx works as described, Once you read the instructions, and adjust the device to your preference, it works perfectly around 100 yards. Overall this is a great unit that works for only $300.
