Anything Caldwell is well made and well priced. this works great on my rifle.

Great little bipod for the price. Solid picatinny rail adaptor. Has just enough flex to allow for minor shot adjustments, but does not have the 45 degree level canting for the more aggressive slopes.Works well for a light to medium weight rifle. I wouldn’t put anything large on it, or a heavy bench gun.Good spring deployment. Can be loud if you are in the bush.Overall, I would recommend this for any light caliber or medium caliber rifle. Price point is great compared to Harris, yet Harris has slightly better engineering and materials.

  3. Suburban Pathfinder

Although the Caldwell XLA bipods are made in China and are, essentially, Harris clones, they are clearly held to a higher quality control standard than the no-name knockoffs found here and elsewhere. I have used other Caldwell shooting products for years and have always had good luck. The Lead Sled and Rock rest as well as Caldwell replacement bags have given me good service. So, when I wanted a bipod that would mount onto a section of Pic rail on my AR for informal shooting, I didn’t want to shell out Harris money. I also didn’t want to take a chance on a mystery-brand Chinese bipod. I’ve gone that route in the past and it’s never been very satisfactory. The Caldwell XLA has fairly strong springs and decent looking hardware that provide a solid rest for shooting off a bench. If I was going to use the bipod in the field, I would want some tilt and swivel adjustment but this is a fine, solid, base for shooting at the range.A word of advice: if you purchase this bipod and you’re planning on using it on just one rifle, take the time to get the Pic rail clamp perfectly adjusted to your rail and use a little thread locker to keep the threaded collar from moving after you detach the bipod from your rifle. Otherwise, it will move when the bipod is detached and then you will have to spend time fiddling with it every time you want to mount it. That, in my opinion, kind of defeats the purpose of a quick-detach mount. You will save yourself a lot of time at the range.
