once n a while –
I have pieces of kit from high end, well known manufacturers that cost a lot of money and are very well made as well as several pieces from little known Tomahawk Tactical Supply Find sellers that are a good value. This micro rig crosses both – it is a really good rig that is well made, has most features you’d want from a micro rig and doesn’t break the bank. The cordura is well cut at stitched nicely. No frayed edges or sloppy stitches and the cordura is durable. The buckles are in the right orientation and will interchange with common set ups from most micro rig/chest rig/plate manufacturers that I’ve seen or own myself.I was pleasantly surprised that one of the inside panels is Velcro and can be removed to put in other Velcro placards if wanted. Additionally, I was surprised that that back of the rig has a camouflaged colored Velcro back that can be removed if you want to place it on a chest rig and buckle it in there instead of running a separate rig. That is – this thing is modular and that’s worth a lot.The buckles on the top that go to the top of the straps/chest straps have a bunge cover to protect/quiet them – this is normally found on high end manufacturers an often overlooked on cheap manufacturers.Drain holes on the bottom are plentiful and the zippers are nicely installed with 550 core pullers that are heat shrink wrapped.Holds Pmags very nicely and the mag holder can also be removed, adding to the modularity and functionality of this system. The manufacturer clearly did their homework and is obviously familiar with high end micro rig functionality and design. This is probably one of the best values I’ve ever purchased on Tomahawk Tactical Supply Find.I would highly recommend this among all the micro rigs on Tomahawk Tactical Supply Find and would definitely put it up against the well known manufacturers of this type of kit. (Haley, Spiritus, etc.)

I am 50y/o, avid outdoors man since birth, and an avid deer hunter in southwest AR and northeast TX and am used to carrying extra hunting gear (compass, gloves, spare ammo, water bottle, snack, 2-way radio) in pockets and was looking for an alternative to that and to backpacks. I try to stay away from backpacks and fanny packs since I don’t like having to take it off when I sit against something, packs are hot against my back in my area of the country, and unnecessarily large. Unfortunately, there are very few (if any) small, unobtrusive chest packs available for hunting. Most are of the “tactical” variety, and too big with too many pockets for a lot of gear that I’m not going to use. I don’t play paintball and I don’t care about looking “tacticool.” I searched for weeks for the perfect chest rig for hunting and found this one.The constructions is of thick cordura. Stitching is perfect with no loose ends or strands. The zippers are heavy duty and have a rubber wrapped paracord pull tab. The center pocket is as listed in measurement, has elastic loops on the inside, and the stitching is again superior. There is a pocket between your chest and the main compartment that has 3 elastic AR size mag holders. There is a single mag pocket on each side. The AR elastic sleeves are removable. The single pistol mag pockets on the side are not.I carry a 2-way radio (Baofeng) for communicating with my son and others in my hunting party. I replaced the stubby antenna with a 18″ whip which made it next to impossible to carry in a cargo pocket so a chest rig became the next best option. I put the radio in one of the AR mag elastic pocket, slid the whip through a molle strap on the left shoulder, added a short jumper, and added a speaker mic since I cannot easily remove the radio with the antenna setup. It works for me perfectly. In the left pistol mag pocket I put a tourniquet. In the right pocket I put a small first aid pack. I believe those two are necessities – the rest of your pack is up to you.The only thing I would do differently in constructing this chest rig is to make the right and left pistol mag pockets removable so that I could remove one and add a pocket big enough for a water bottle. There will never be the perfect, personalized setup so this still deserves 5 stars.

It feels like the price is reasonable for what you get, I am not complaining here. But I want to share what I am seeing for those looking at buying this.I don’t know if this is rebranded Chinese stuff, but it feels like it is. If you are looking at this price point it’s probably something you are okay with. The stitching is messy in places. It isn’t worse than other things I’m the same price point, but it’s not a hidden gem either. I have some stuff from Condor and NCStar, and this fits in perfectly with that crew.It might run great, but I can’t speak to that yet. It will probably be fine for a larper like me.In addition to the stitching, the straps are super long as another person mentioned – be ready for 8-12+ inches of strap hanging loose at every buckle if you are not a really big boy. I am 6 for 220ish gravy seal and there is a lot of extra strap for me. I actually bought some triglides that I hope will help when I get them- the straps are really easy to loosen when buckling them if you are not careful. The shock cords on the side pockets also have a lot of extra material behind the knot. I don’t think it bothers me, but if you are going for clean lines this might not be the option you want. Also, as others have said, reindexing mags might be hard, but I assume that’s the case for anything that uses the elastic type sleeves. And that’s why they make dump pouches. Pmags, hexmags, and aluminum gi mags are all fine- supported well but can be shaken out when upsidedown. On the plus side it looked like I can get a sleeve for my MP5 mags, which makes this more versatile. It clearly didn’t go through testing with multiple people. Or the test models were different than the production models. Or quality control was cut to keep prices down. I don’t know. But let’s be honest, if you are looking at a roughly $50 price point you probably expect this.
