I really love this Spotting Scope. I placed it in my Livingroom by the picture window as I have a nice view of the woods along a powerline where I can sometimes see Deer, Turkey, Coyote, and Bobcats. It’s a very powerful Spotting Scope and it has great clarity but it can be hard to pan while at maximum magnification so it’s better to use the 20x to scan then zoom in when you find something interesting. The Tripod isn’t strong enough for this scope it wobbles for 5-10 seconds every time you try to adjust the scope (the scope is just to heavy for this Tripod, The Tripod would be great for a Camera that weighs much less and is more centrally balanced. I mounted it on a heavier Tripod I had from my old Video Camera and it’s a lot better, but I’d still like to get something even sturdier. This Scope kit is still a good deal though even with the cheap Tripod, the rest of the kit is great and the Scope itself is fantastic.

The Scope is every bit what I was hoping for. However the tripod is not up to the task while looking through the scope at distant objects or wildlife. The scope itself is near equal with a name brand scope bought several years ago for 3-4 times the price of this Gosky. It works exactly the same way with quality lens covers front and back. I would have liked a quick on-off cover on the back lens as well as the screw on cap. But I can’t complain too much about that. However the tripod which fits in the same travel bag as the scope, was a major disappointment and I will never use it with this or any other scope. Thin wobbly legs, weak adjustment screws, miniscule mounting plate and a telescoping center post with a hand crank without the ability to telescope more than about an inch. The mounting plate for attaching to the scope to allow a quick connect, does not even have the normal extra lock pin to keep it from swiveling accidentally. In 2 pictures you can see just how much smaller this mounting plate is compared to a typical plate on most all camera/camcorder tripods I have used. This may work with something the size of a phone but for a heavy scope like this, this tripod is totally inadequate. The scope does come with some peripherals like cleaning brush, blower and lens paper. And a big surprise for me was an amazingly easy phone adapter to use with the scope to take pictures and videos. I have tried 3 different adapters to mount to my current scope and neither of the first two have been this easy to use. In fact since I wear glasses it has been a dream of mine to be able to use the phone to view things through the scope instead of taking my glasses off every time to view things. The included adapter with just a couple minutes of reading was not only easy to mount but sat rock solid on the scope and provided clear pictures and videos. The video and pictures are actually inside my garage at about 25 ft so not the best quality. But I barely had to work at make this work beyond adjusting the focus as tight as I could. So record your practice at the range or birds out on the water with ease. I am definitely excited about that as the spring will bring the ducks back to our lake and I can now share the view of them on Facebook or wherever.
