You can unlock it using biometric recognition, a key code, or a traditional key. While all three methods work flawlessly, I have personally come to prefer the five-digit key code entry due to its efficiency and my peace of mind.One of the standout features of this safe is its user-friendly design. Even though I have multiple fingerprints stored for biometric access, I find the key code entry more intuitive in my daily practice. Excellent pistol safe, I installed it as described in the instructions and the mounting method is rock solid.I really like how the combo buttons light up when my fingers hover above them, this is perfect when the room lights are out. By default, pressing the combo buttons make an audible beep; why would anyone want that in an emergency situation? Luckily, the beeps can be disabled so no issue for me there. I use my code at least once a week just to practice and make certain I remember the code, its been months and the system works flawlessly.The safe runs on a usb c connector with battery backup. I’ve tested with usb and no batteries, usb with batteries, and batteries only. All methods work with no issues. I installed batteries and usb c for normal operation, confirmed operation, then pulled power from the usb c wall wart and confirmed failover operation. So access to my pistol is guaranteed even in a power outage.I haven’t tried the fingerprint reader, generally don’t trust those for emergencies. I have used the key with no issues but again not something I would plan to use in an emergency.When the lock is released, the pistol drawer slides out fully and reliably. An led in the safe turns on when the drawer opens, allowing me to clearly see the pistol grip. Pulling the pistol out of the foam sometimes pulls the foam a bit out of place as well, but I don’t find this to be an obstruction when accessing the weapon. I have considered using a little glue to keep the foam in place, simply to avoid reseating when putting the pistol back.Bottom line, I found this product to be rock solid and met my every expectation. Highly recommend.

Crime is out of control with people more apt to steal than earn their own. I have guns in a safe, but it’s not exactly quickly accessible if someone were breaking in. I got this (with keypad, fingerprint and key) and attached it to my bedframe so I can easily, instantly get to a loaded gun, butt end up, in seconds! It is padded, has space for a spare clip or two (depending on stack), and fits my full size 1911 easily in a compact design that’s sturdy and works every time. It’s not indestructible, but it’s not meant to be…it’s solid and immediate and perfect for my needs, which was to safely protect my family without having to just have a loaded gun lying about…and i don’t have to worry about kids or guests either. It is a great peace of mind that I can easily access lying down and the fingerprint reader is instant and smooth…hell, it’s way better than my Samsung phone! I love this purchase and highly recommend it!
