  1. Dennis S

I like this brand and I have a golf rangefinder made by them. I kind of expected them to be similar, but I was wrong. This hunting rangefinder seems in my opinion, made with more rugged parts and consist of slight design changes which creates a better grip and feel in the hands. When the results are displayed through the rangefinder, the information appears with a crisper, brighter LED that I found very easy to read, and I appreciated its boldness and how it looked on the screen. When testing varying distances between my ballistic rangefinder, my golf rangefinder, and this hunting rangefinder they were all within 1 foot of accuracy. Since I was shooting targets from everywhere from 100 to 300 yards, I was impressed. Although I did not read how far the accuracy is I never thought it would hit 300 and I probably won’t throw a shot past that mark. I would like to add I enjoyed the display and feel of this better than mine ballistic rangefinder which was 10 times the cost because of that this earns five stars with ease. It comes in a nice little protective pouch and all the accessories that need to go with it.. You will get the total package with everything you need out of the box with no need to purchase supplemental items. Great job on this unit and if I could give you an extra star, I would.

The AOFAR HX1600 Hunting Rangefinder has totally blown me away! The dual-color OLED display is super clear and easy to read, no matter what the lighting is like. And the optics are insane – they let in almost 95% of the light, so you can see everything super clearly. The 1600-yard range is awesome – it gives you quick and precise distance readings. And the angle and horizontal distance compensation is a game-changer, especially when you’re hunting in tricky terrain. The range, scan, and speed modes are so versatile, you can use it for hunting, target shooting, and all sorts of outdoor stuff.I also love that it’s waterproof, so I don’t have to worry about rain or shine. The build quality is solid, but it’s also lightweight, so it’s easy to carry around. And the battery life is incredible – it lasts through long outings without needing to be charged. For all the features it has, this rangefinder is an absolute steal. If you’re looking for accuracy, reliability, and great performance at a reasonable price, this is the perfect choice. Highly recommend it to hunters, shooters, and anyone who loves spending time outdoors!

I’ll take it in the field! No lightweight! Install the battery with the (+) facing OUT.Appears to be very solidly built. In that regard, comparable to my Vortex 1000, very similar except for the shock protection on the Vortex. The rubber coating on the HX1600 seems to be harder and less resilient. It is also noticeably larger than the Vortex. (didn’t realize how DUSTY the photo environment was!!)Fast focusing with ~270 deg range on the focusing grip. The Vortex takes more turns.Three modes of Distance, Scan and Speed. I like the Scan mode for panning to quickly determine the distances at different ranges without having to press the Measure button several times. In the Scan mode, the display remains on while scanning.Compared to my Vortex, distances measured in yards were:HX160044, 272, 296, 334, 423Vortex 100045, 275, 297, 336, 428The Speed Mode is interesting, but I wonder if really necessary. It seemed to work fairly well. With somebody else driving, I was able to measure closing speed of an oncoming vehicle. At a fairly head on angle I measured 116 mph as we were traveling 60 mph. Seemed close enough. Measured some parking lot speeds and a few people pushing shopping carts.Image magnification seems to be 6x which is on par with my older Vortex. No tripod mount; has point to add the dongle for carrying without having to put the hard case on your belt. I prefer the clip on my Vortex to put in on a belt or backpack strap for ready access. The case is nice but would use it only for transport. There is a bungee that engages with a peg on the case so it wouldn’t have to be unzipped in the field. My preference is for a pouch with an overlapping flap.
