High Tech Redneck –
Need a great brown and black belt for everyday use? Maybe you want a belt that can hold down a load in the back of your truck. Just maybe you have decided to become a mall ninja. Well friends this belt is for you and others more. I have been looking at these belts for a few months now after seeing some on a trip. I finally decided on the double duty because of the two color options and also the size. I like the 1.5 inch because it will hold my pants up when I have my large frame .45 in a holster attached without it pulling my pants down. I can cinch these up and not have to worry about my pants falling at all throughout the day unlike my leather belt. I was reluctant at first and thought that maybe the buckle wouldn’t hold it tight but I was wrong. So far I have not noticed it slipping at all.I know that if it came down to to needing to use this belt for other purposes I wouldn’t hesitate. It’s strong and feels like it will hold large weight. I am a larger guy and got the XXL. It fits well and it is just the right size for someone wearing a men’s size 42 pants. If you like your belts to be a little longer then definitely go up to the XXL. I have just about an inch of extra belt leftover once I fasten it.I can honestly say that I plan on ordering more 5.11 accessories after seeing how well this belt is made and how it wears.

The 5.11 Tactical TDU Double Duty Belt is extremely durable for long lasting wear. It has just the right about of stability and flex to support your gear and yet remain comfortable. The buckle holds securely with no slippage. I mostly wear this belt under my duty belt, but it can stand alone to hold all my gear as well The dual color is a bonus. It does run slightly small as noted by others. I purchased my first TDU belt about a decade ago; it is still going strong, but I’ve had a sizing change and need just a bit more room, LOL.

This is a sturdy belt, which is what I was hoping for to handle carrying tools, etc. It has a plastic buckle so it should get through airport security easily enough although I haven’t tested that personally. I have 2 small complaints with this belt. First, since it is double sided I was hoping to wear the black side in certain situations but the the top of the green shows pretty obviously when you where the black side out. Not a huge deal but I can’t wear it in quite as many situations as I had planned because of this. As long as you are aware you won’t be wearing this as business casual you are probably fine. My second, and bigger issue, is that it is pretty tough to cinch the belt tight. Because the webbing is so thick you can’t just grab the end and pull it tight, it won’t make the bend around the buckle no matter how hard I pull. This is also a benefit since it won’t slip at all once tightened but getting it tight takes some work. I think I’m glad I went with a size up so I have enough belt to work with when trying to get it tightened. Overall it’s a solid belt but I probably wouldn’t go with the reversible next time as I think doubling the colors up is what causes most of my issues. Again, as long as you are aware of those things going into it you are probably fine and will be more than happy with this belt. If anyone knows any tricks to easily tighten this thing up I’m all ears!
